You Are Beautiful!

“This is the best time in my life. I feel so empowered and so free and so excited about life again.”

Pamela Anderson

So I don’t know if you saw Pamela Anderson on The Drew Barrymore Show (which I have provided a link to below), but holy cow! I’m a little obsessed with it right now!

The entire episode is makeup free for both audience members and the hosts, inspired by Pamela, who ditched makeup a while back. I have never been a big makeup person. Honestly, most days I just throw on moisturizer and eye liner and call it a day.

When I was in my 40s I lost a bunch of weight that had crept up on me over the years. There was a moment there when I would dress up in the cute clothes, the high heels, the jewelry and even the makeup, to an extent. And I’m not gonna lie…..it felt good. All of the compliments on the weight loss and how great I looked were almost euphoric.

But after a lifetime of being a tomboy, I grew tired of all of the maintenance very quickly. And those heels? Fuck that! I am very much a substance over style person and I always have been. It was cute to be girly for 5 seconds of my life, but I moved on from that quickly.

I have never been a very visual person when it comes to how someone looks. If you ask me what someone was wearing or what color their eyes are, I’m going to stare at you like a deer stuck in headlights. I have no freakin idea. But I remember how someone makes me feel. And I remember how they treat me. Those are the things that matter to me. The beauty I see isn’t what is on the outside. I’ve always been that way.

Now that I am in my 50s, I definitely search for ways to simplify my life. I prioritize comfort and calm over compliments and corns. (I don’t know if high heels actually give you corns, but I needed a C word.) One of the beautiful parts of growing older is the utter lack of care over what other people think of me. One of my favorite quotes is “What other people think of me is none of my business.” The second you find the truth in this statement, the best part of your life begins!

Pomegranate Passion Tea “Sangria”

In honor of Pamela Anderson’s sobriety and love of tea, I thought it only fitting to do a mocktail recipe today.

2 oz. Tazo Passion Tea Concentrate

2 oz. Pomegranate Juice

1 oz Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice

1 – 2 oz. Club Soda

Fill wine glass with ice and add concentrate and juices. Stir well and top with soda.

Garnish with Blackberries and Orange Slice
